Test Drive Meme: June 2015

Welcome to the Underground test drive meme! This is where you can try out the AU version of your character, start some potential CR and get a feel for the world of the game. Choose your character's species, read up on the available factions and you're ready to go. Put your character's name in your subject line when you post, tag out, and have fun!

Note to current players: Activity in this meme counts as game canon! So you can use it for activity check. If you end up playing anything that you can't or don't want to use as game canon, it's fine to ignore it. (In that case you shouldn't submit it for activity check.)

Here are some prompts to inspire you:

1) LONDON CALLING. People come to London from all corners of the earth. Now you're here and whether you meant to or not, you've been drawn in to the supernatural world. Perhaps you're here to meet other members of your faction. Or perhaps the city's more unusual inhabitants find you first.

2) DARK SIDE. Whether it's animal instincts, a lust for blood or uncontrollable magic, every supernatural being struggles with their darker instincts. Be careful, you may end up doing something you regret.

3) ENEMY TERRITORY. You've found yourself on the wrong side of the tracks. This is enemy territory, you shouldn't be here. Better hope you can sneak your way through without any trouble. Although you have this nagging feeling that you're being followed...

4) GET YOUR SHOVEL. Well, there's a body. Freshly killed, and they didn't come to a natural end. The question is, did you do it or was it someone else? You'd better sort this mess out quickly.

5) STRAWBERRIES AND CREAM. It's the Wimbledon finals, so grab a picnic basket, buy some horribly overpriced strawberries, choose your tennis-themed outfit and get yourself off to SW19. Sure you can handle large crowds? Now is not the time for a supernatural mishap.

6) JUST DANCE. It's a ceilidh! (Barn dance.) Organized by witches but open to all (friendly) newcomers, the dance takes place in an old music hall. There's food, drink, folk music and a magical ritual to bless all young single people attending who are looking for a partner. You never know, your next dance partner might be the one.

7) FULL MOON. (2nd July) Uh oh, it's that time of the month. Werewolves, have you been feeling more aggressive lately? A little short of temper? Better start preparing for your monthly transformation and hope that you don't get interrupted. And then there's the morning after, which feels like a massive hangover. Wait, where are your clothes?

He might have been followed but it wasn't by Mab who had better things to do that track mundane American military around London. Which didn't mean that they wouldn't meet. In fact she stepped out of a bookstore right into Jensen's path, a heavy bag in one hand, her hair falling in a silver white wave down her back. She did not step out of his path either once she noticed him moments away from collision, instead fixing her blue-green gaze on him as though she very well expected him to go around. Assuming he wasn't too occupied by whatever was tailing him.

Perhaps it was his imagination. It was part of the job to assume you were being followed or watched. Cougar wasn’t here, so knowing that your usual crew didn’t have your back this time around made him antsy. But one could never really tell given the way he carried himself. To the rest of the world it just looked like he was stopping to take in a sight or two.

Immediately ahead of him, Jensen heard the sound of a door opening up. The jingle of the bells hanging on the handle of the bookstore signaled someone coming out. It was enough time to face forward and put on the brakes with his footing. A split second longer and it could have been a disaster, but Jensen backed up his arms and stopped dead in his tracks as he looked at a lovely woman come out of the store loaded up with whatever wares she had purchased.

Despite the freakishly albino-like characteristics of the woman, Jensen was smitten upon first sight. The lady looked like some kind of faerie snow queen out of those fantasy books that opted on the movie versions instead.

Her demeanor of the event would have come off as repugnant to some, but he was blind to it. With a flirtatious smile and twinkle in his eyes, Jensen started with, “Well, hello there.”

Followed by a, “May I help you with that?”

Jensen always had time for a pretty lady. Unless it was Aisha. That woman was fucking cray-cray.

He reacted quickly enough to avoid disaster and she tilted her head a little at him as his mind recovers just as quickly turning her rudeness into an opportunity. Which was interesting. He didn't have any magic as far as she could tell, apparently just quick wits.

He was of a height with her and she turned to face him as he greeted her. "Hello." She replied.

When men asked to carry something for you, it was not because you could not carry it yourself, it was because it was polite. And also because they hoped to ingratiate themselves of course. Mab was perfectly happy with the human ingratiating himself to her. She smiled a little and handed him the book. It was at least three inches thick and the size of a dictionary. But this one was printed on thicker stock so it was significantly heavier. "You may."

And with that she turned, releasing the book and beginning to walk, the click of her heels on the sidewalk steady and even like a metronome. Clearly he was expected to keep up.

She was practically a giantess by stature alone, but Jensen wasn’t paying too much attention to the oddities about the woman. Her responsive greeting was, at best, forced. But she didn’t shut him out at all which was a change of pace. The offer to assist at least brought a smile to her rouged lips. The look had the ability to send electricity down his spine in the figurative sense. Suddenly there was a sense of hope; perhaps he would get some play after all! Already he loved London!

Though the book had quite a bit of girth to it (*cough*), Jensen retrieved the offered tomb with little mind to its weight. His physique wasn’t exactly the type to be easily encumbered by things like this. She paid little mind to formalities once she had dumped her item into his care. Clearly she assumed that Jensen would follow her, and the assumption was right.

With a skip in his initial step, the American followed the white beauty like a lost puppy dog. His mind fumbled for something to say. “I uh... I’m Jensen. I didn’t catch your name.”

Striding up next to her, he was trying his best to keep that boyish charm on full speed in hopes it would garner him further favor.

The man reacted like he'd won a drawing in some lottery. Sometimes mortals could be interesting if a little ridiculous. She most definitely noticed the book wouldn't be a problem for him, he came off a goofy but he was built like someone who worked at it. Not that she wouldn't have pawned the book off on someone with less physique but it was a benefit to him at the very least. He certainly didn't have the initial leanings toward violence that generally interested Mab.

She turned her head as he caught up. "Jensen." She repeated, pronouncing it perfectly, the slightly odd amalgamation of accent disappearing to pure American when she said it. "You may call me Ms. Sommerset, Jensen." She tilted her head a little, considering him. He was so happy it threw her off a little. Everyone here had the sense to realize something about her was dangerous. But he was traipsing along obliviously looking completely pleased with himself. She smiled a little and there was an edge to it. Like she might be able to get all kinds of interesting things out of him. "You are from America. What brings you to London?"

He seemed to have piqued her interest in some capacity, and there was a tonal change that he picked up on along the way. The interaction was kept formal though. Choosing to only give him her last name rather than anything he could use in a casual setting.

Ms. Sommerset? What are we…like…eighty? That was the inner monologue running through his head in a playful jest. It only brought a further smile to his lips as he continued to observe how she chose to engage him.

“Ms. Sommerset.” He repeated with a nod, “That’s very…formal.”

When she asked what brought him here, Jensen simply shrugged and replied, “Figured I could use the change of pace. I never was the type to stay in one place for very long.”

All too true.

“What about you? How long have you lived in these parts of town?”

"Yes, yes it is." She replied and there was something like amusement in her tone. "You do not know me yet, Mr. Jensen. Formalities should be observed."

Well now, he deflected like a pro. Suddenly she was more interested in him. "A nomad by nature?" It was more wondering aloud.

"I lived in London some time ago, but had to leave for ... personal reasons." She looked thoughtful, "It is fascinating being back after such a long time away."

"You are American, yes?"
