Welcome to the Underground test drive meme! This is where you can try out the AU version of your character, start some potential CR and get a feel for the world of the game. Choose your character's species, read up on the available factions and you're ready to go. Put your character's name in your subject line when you post, tag out, and have fun!

Note to current players: Activity in this meme counts as game canon! So you can use it for activity check. If you end up playing anything that you can't or don't want to use as game canon, it's fine to ignore it. (In that case you shouldn't submit it for activity check.)

Here are some prompts to inspire you:

1) STRANGE TOWN. So this is London. You're in the underbelly of the city, the shadow of the Underground where the vampires and the ghosts and other strange creatures come out to play. Still, at least the Tube staff take it all in stride.

2) NO ONE CARES. You're out on the streets and you're in trouble. Maybe you don't have a bed for the night, maybe you're injured and in need of aid, maybe you just missed your train. But that's the thing about big cities: people walk past. They don't listen. They don't help. Will some kind soul take note of your plight?

3) DON'T BE WEIRD. You may not be quite an ordinary human, but that doesn't mean you can't do your shopping or order a coffee, right? No accidental magic, no letting your fangs show or whatever supernatural appendages you've got going on. Just act normal.

4) WEAR THE RIGHT CLOTHES. You're at a fancy event with black ties and finger food. Fund raising for some supernatural cause or other? Better look smart.

5) FIND A FRIENDLY FACE. Go to one of the local supernatural haunts and sit down for a well-earned drink with a friend. You earned it.

6) BURN IT UP. (1st May) The fire festival of Beltane is a time of celebration for witches, marking the beginning of summer. Come along to the bonfire for music, food and drink, flower crowns and fertility rituals.

7) LOOK IN THE MIRROR. (1st May) Beltane is also a time when the barrier between the human world and the Other Realm is at its thinnest, making it easy to pass from one realm to the other by chance. You might even have an encounter with the mysterious and mischievous fae.

8) CHOOSE YOUR OWN ADVENTURE. Anything goes.

The tie might not be black, but it's the thought that counts, of course. Jean-Claude is certainly not wearing a black tie himself. Or a tie at all, for that matter. How does he get away with it himself? Well, technically it's a cravat instead. Also he's wearing a brocade vest, a poet's shirt, and a velveteen overcoat as well as knee-high leather boots over his trousers. Which are certainly not leather. This is a fancy dress affair, and moreover, it happens to be for his campaign. For President of the Night Council.

He smiles as he spots the other man from across the way. A familiar face, despite the fact that he has only technically met him one or two times. He wonders whether Jason realizes what has brought him to this particular fundraiser. And whether he realizes it is Jean-Claude himself. There is only one way to find out...

Making his way across the crowd, he steps up behind the other man and offers, "I must admit, this is a different look from the first time we met, mon ami."

Jason's not all that certain where the invite came from, only that he got one and he went back and forth a few times as to whether or not to take it up.

He does smile when he sees Jean-Claude approaching, taking a moment to look the other man over. "Very different," he agrees. "And, yet, I still feel underdressed."

Jean-Claude offers a smile, shaking his head as he does. "You flatter me. But you look very handsome yourself. Even if this," he says, reaching out to straighten the other man's tie for him, "does not quite suit you. Not as much as other outfits I have seen you in, at least."

There is a slightly mischievous glint to his eye as he offers as much. After a moment he steps back, smoothing Jason's tie down against his chest and taking his hands back to himself once more. "You still have not visited me at my own club though, mon ami. Another man with more delicate sensibilities might be insulted by such a thing, you know."

"I've been to the club!" It's weird that he doesn't feel the need to protest his tie being straightened, but there's been something about Jean-Claude that's captured his attention since they first time they'd met. "But no, you weren't there when I went. Sorry about that."

[baisant]

Jean-Claude makes a gentle chiding sound with his tongue and his teeth. A noise that he does not mean, not really, though he does regret not having run into Jason when the other man had been there.

"The next time you stop by, you must ask for me," he replies. "I insist. Tell them I have asked for you specifically. Otherwise, I am going to think that I am being led on, mon ami. And you would not want me to believe such a thing as that, non?" He raises his eyebrows in challenge.

Jason hummed, tilting his head a bit. "I wouldn't want to disturb you while you're busy. Though, I suppose, if you were, you'd tell them to tell me to come back another time."

he reached up, doing his best not to shift the tie around. After all, Jean-Claude had fixed it.

[baisant]

A smile spreads across Jean-Claude's face once more. "For you, mon ami, I would make time. If I turned you away at my door upon the one visit you pay me, who knows how long I would wait before the next."

He is mostly teasing. Mostly.

The head tilts a bit more, not entirely unlike the wolf he sometimes was. "Why?" he finally asks. "I'm not anybody special."

Which has been the question from the beginning. Why has this man, this vampire, chosen him to...be interested in, really.

Why Jason? Why indeed... For one thing, Jean-Claude has never had this much trouble convincing another person to come to visit him, male or female. For another... There is something about Jason that intrigues him, though he cannot quite put his finger on what.

"You should not sell yourself short, mon ami," Jean-Claude replies. "You are more than you give yourself credit, I think."
