He might be somewhat grumpy a fair amount of the time -- alright, a lot of the time -- but it's his way of coping. His way of hiding from more complicated emotions that he would rather not deal with himself. Rather not face up to or admit to having. And it's unsettling that she should know them just by sitting across from him, when he spends so much time burying them away from the world, from even himself...
