Illya smiles very faintly, and his pale, sharp eyes meet hers.

It's a lecture, and he knows it. But, well, history likes to forget many things. And she is young. Foolish, in her own way. But so is he in his. So is everyone, ultimately. But...

The least he can do is offer a bit of warning.

He can't change her mind. He can't make her do anything.

But he can say it--

"First they came for the Socialists, and I did not speak out," he mutters, uneven though his English may be.

"Because I was not a Socialist."
