"Yeah, well…" It's a rubbish comeback. It's not really a comeback at all. Eponine scowls at the boy, though her irritation is more at her own ineptness. Usually quick with her words, the change of scenery and her utter exhaustion after tramping from the coast to London have dampened her spirits somewhat.
"I don't care if you're older. I am not afraid of you."
His question though, makes her smile. It's so familiar, though usually it's from her tongue and not to her ears. Her hands instinctively go to the straps of her rucksack, and she tightens the straps a little.
"I suppose you shall have the satisfaction of proving yourself right, when I ask Monsieur Jean-Claude about the hunt. Or perhaps you like helping women as me?"
Eponine grins suddenly. "I'll make sure it ain't you taking the blame when I have a drink later. Now that is a good deal, if you are so afraid of them what give the rules."
