[ he’s not going to lie, it was hard. changing, it’s always hard as a general rule. not just running, but he wanted to be able to interact with people. it was difficult, at first, even with allison. difficult to approach her, every time he did he had to fight the voice in his head trying to talk himself out of it. but over time, visits he marked with photographs ( too many, probably ) it became easier to be himself around her.
being himself now means squawking when she ruffles his hair, hey, it was artfully disheveled before. now it’s probably just plain disheveled. but still accepting the hug, this time ducking only a fraction they’re so close in height to rest his chin on her shoulder. ]
