Throughout his various peregrinations over Europe and Russia, he had very much not come across any of his Nassau contemporaries - rumors had reached him over the centuries of their various whereabouts (he'd long since ceased to be surprised that any of them were even alive, then again, they were bound to have found some supernatural deal that would have kept them from ever truly finishing any of their various businesses...).
