Potential CR Planning

Are you thinking about joining the game? Then you've found the right place! This post is for all prospective players to discuss their characters' AU backgrounds with canonmates and other characters, and to establish pre-existing CR (character relations). The aim is to help you figure out what to write in the background section of your application and to give you a starting point for building CR when you join the game.

You can use this post to:

• Share your ideas on how you'd like to adapt your character's background to the game.
• Ask questions and request feedback on your AU plans.
• Discuss potential shared history with canonmates and build in cross-canon CR.

Please note that nothing discussed here is guaranteed, since not all prospective players will submit an app or be accepted into the game, while others will app without having commented to this post. After the next round of applications have been processed, there will be a follow-up CR planning post for accepted players to confirm initial plans, make changes, and look for new CR.

This post is intended to be an open discussion between current and prospective players, but I'm happy to answer any mod questions you might have too. Happy planning!

New player alert! I'm Adri and I'm planning on apping Arthur here from Inception.

The AU I have planned for him is that he's a hunter, originally a secret ops vampire hunter with the US military, which is where he found out about supernatural creatures to begin with. After doing that a few years he met up with a witch and his human wife, who hired him as basically a personal bodyguard and live-in BFF (I imagined these two as Cobb and Mal for those of you that have seen Inception but I'm leaving it vague and nameless on the off chance someone wants to app them). He travelled all over with them, learning about supernatural stuff and then ended up in London, where they left him on his own for vague unknown reasons. He'd have been in London about a year if I get him in, so there's plenty of room for him to have made connections.

Even though he's a hunter, he's not very hostile to supernatural types unless they're hostile first! He's totally down for making deals and being friendly with all sorts, though he keeps his professional distance most of the time just in case. He's a bit of a tough nut to crack friendship wise, but a year is plenty of time to learn about someone over a few weekly drinks at the bar!

Let me know if you're interested in establishing or getting something going with him! I am amenable to all types of CR though obviously I'd like to plan if things are going to be complicated.

This Inception cast coming about is making me want to app in my Ariadne. Maybe in August... :D!

For now, I'm also a prospective player with my original character Maera here. She's an Unseelie fairy messenger, so she's been all over London, and spends a lot of time in the human realm in general. It's totally possible for her to have run into Arthur once or twice before, if not more often! She's also super friendly - the type to chat with pretty much anyone - so basically if Arthur's looking for a casual friend, she could be one!

I'm totally cool with casual friends. My headcanon is that Arthur knows the least about fae so he'd be curious but not aggressively so if he knows she's a fae. Even if not they'd probably get along... he's fairly laid back.

Hey! So Eames here is an Unseelie who spends a lot of his time in London and does a lot of gathering information and whatnot, so I feel like Maera is totally the kind of person he'd know and probably get along decently with.

Oh I didn't mean she'd know Maera was a seer, only that she was the daughter of one. Unless the mother keeps it secret as well. :)

OKAY HI

I'm Hannah and I'm easily enabled and I'm thinking about bringing Isaac Mendez from Heroes in the next app round. In canon, he's a junkie painter/comic book artist who has the ability to paint the future, but generally only when he's high. He's kind of obsessed with being a hero, so he kind of struggles to tow the line between getting clean and getting high to see what's coming so it can stopped.

If I were to AU him, tbh, he'd...just basically be the same. Meta-human, retaining his drug problem and his artistic skills. Probably a London native. I usually find canon Isaac difficult to play in game environments because he's so busy dealing with his own issues that he doesn't willingly interact. I was wondering if anyone more familiar with the game had any ideas there/possible CR to open some doors?

I don't know that Mab would know Lyra Lore since she disappeared and just came back. She might have heard rumors about her, and maybe saw her in passing if she was at the Litha festival.

Ah, got it!! Sorry, I misread things very often ^^' But yeah, her mother is publicly known as the Court Seer and she's there for anyone who wants to know what might lie in their future! So that might be reason for Mab to have known of Maera in the first place.

Making him a roommate of someone older and patient might work? Presumably Isaac would get dragged into clan conflicts, people wanting to save him, people wanting to use him, etc.

Alternatively, if I app Sylar, we could au them to be roommates, but obv he'd be a bit of an abusive dick.

Ringer here has a pretty similar personality - not actively anti supernatural - and we could def use more!

A perfect reason! I don't suspect Mab would use a Seer regularly but perhaps on occasion it would be useful, ie: before territory claims and such. But a messenger is always useful and I won't have to resort to pixies then.

Yeah! Arthur's totally more interested in learning about supernatural stuff than he is in killing vampires (although he is very good at it) and it'd be cool for him to meet up with some like-minded people and trade intel or whatever.

I'd be tempted to throw Sirius at him in some capacity, most likely as a regular at the bar or something like that.

His reputation likely prevents him from being a potential babysitter or dispensing parenting advice.

but bless! that would help a lot. if you feel up to it, he and syloser could def be roommates. i don't think anyone's going to be happy in that scenario.

Obv I don't want to hog all your CR but it could be a good excuse for encouragement to continue using and all that dramaz. We'll see if other peeps have ideas though!!

Oh, definitely. Maera is chatty and she loves her Court. Think mascot levels of pride in the Unseelies, pretty much just because that's where she was born. So she'll be extra chatty and friendly with anyone from her Court. :D

Arthur is totally into that. Less on the surface politics and more on the covert ops/intimidation/assassination side of things but I really would like to get him involved.

HELLO my name is Lina! And I have... a few with some skeleton outline stuff for my potentials so I'll just set them up under this comment

HANNA TALBOT

This here is a pyromancer OC who comes from a craphole world that's basically Spartacus/The Hunger Games/Alphas everything is truly awful. Generally she's pretty upbeat but from this particular canon point she's a lot less about what's right and what's better for survival and thriving. She's big into music and plays the drums because once upon a time she was going to be a music producer but that all fell apart. By now, she's a mercenary and well-trained but still stands more as an advanced level instead of expert level.

AU her would follow a lot of the same thing in which she lived most of her life hiding her powers, was found to have powers then got kicked out of her home and was on the run for most of her life. She bounced around quite a bit in the US until she was recruited into an experimental army of metahumans. When that fell apart, she was recruited into Ouranos, a private military contractor that aimed to do the same thing, except make a lot of money out of offering contracts. She was trained up into plenty of special ops routines and took on many missions. Unfortunately, she made too many enemies as a mercenary and rumors were spreading of a girl who wielded fire. She left the company and went completely off the grid. Now she's a mercenary for the supernatural types in London, taking on hunting jobs from humans or other supernatural types who don't want to get their hands too dirty. She doesn't mind.
