Potential CR Planning

Are you thinking about joining the game? Then you've found the right place! This post is for all prospective players to discuss their characters' AU backgrounds with canonmates and other characters, and to establish pre-existing CR (character relations). The aim is to help you figure out what to write in the background section of your application and to give you a starting point for building CR when you join the game.

You can use this post to:

• Share your ideas on how you'd like to adapt your character's background to the game.
• Ask questions and request feedback on your AU plans.
• Discuss potential shared history with canonmates and build in cross-canon CR.

Please note that nothing discussed here is guaranteed, since not all prospective players will submit an app or be accepted into the game, while others will app without having commented to this post. After the next round of applications have been processed, there will be a follow-up CR planning post for accepted players to confirm initial plans, make changes, and look for new CR.

This post is intended to be an open discussion between current and prospective players, but I'm happy to answer any mod questions you might have too. Happy planning!

/waves. This is Lauren aka Elsa!mun with the second character I'm thinking of bringing here, Richard Castle from the TV show Castle. In his canon he's a mystery writer/consulting detective with the police. I'm thinking of doing something similar with him here. The AU scenario I'm leaning towards is making him a meta human with something like mind-reading abilities as his power. He'd still be a best-selling mystery writer and still help the police but part of the secret of his success would be his telepathy which most people do not know about. I'd probably initially place him on the fringes of supernatural society but he would get more into it as his time in the game goes, perhaps getting drawn into solving murders that occur in the underground world, etc.

I'll be putting him on the test-drive meme when it goes up.

Hey everyone. This is Lynn. Player of Abby and Henry. Definitely considering bringing in Lagertha here from Vikings. (No icons yet because no one, apparently, really icons her non-period roles, so I need to make them myself.)

Her AU history is, at the moment, that she's a Seelie fae who loves battle. She enjoys watching humans but in the same way of the Greek gods. She considers humans to be children, and she goes between being a doting mother and a stern one where most are concerned. When she finds a combination of a great warrior and an artistic/philosophic spirit, she is liable (no matter what species the person is and no matter what gender they are) to become romantically involved with them. Usually these affairs are fleeting in the life of a mortal, but sometimes she makes a longer-term commitment, since a few decades is nothing to her.

She's had a few children. Not as many as one might expect, given how freely she dotes and allows access to her bed.

Her history is a mix of Norse history, Norse mythology, Vikings canon, and some English/Celtic/Irish fairy stories, considering the Saxon-Norse relations.

Hi everyone! I'm Violet, a totally new prospective player, and I'm considering bringing in my original character Maera here. She's an Unseelie fairy, daughter to the Unseelie Court Seer and one of her human consorts. Being the daughter of a seer meaning that Maera's kind of able to see into the future. 'Kind of' meaning that her visions are vague, confusing, and irritatingly short-term. For now, she doesn't tell people about her powers - thanks, paranoid mum - and instead, she just acts as a messenger/runner for the Court. Need sensitive material of any kind to be transported from one location to another? She's your fae.

Since Maera's 'born of both worlds', in a way, she's familiar with both the Other Realm and with London, and crosses the border often. She's super curious about other species, and very friendly in general. She'll be going on the test-meme when it goes up, but I just wanted to introduce her here and see if there's any CR we can hash out! :D

I play Heiji, a Seelie fae who's also pretty friendly and familiar with London, so I'm sure they can meet up sometime or come up with CR even. He and Balem are leading a territory push in July, so... idk, messengers are super useful for getting those organized? They could talk about their observations on humans too :V

Hey, it's Megan (Sirius-mun) considering a second character. He might be familiar from when I was first considering apping here but this is Agent North Dakota from the popular web series, Red vs. Blue.

His AU history is still pretty rough, but basically he was murdered and became a ghost due to the dubious nature of his death (who killed him, how) and basically he wants to figure that out and make sure that his friends and family (specifically his twin sister) are okay.

I'm not sure if I'd app him this round but I'll probably throw him up on the test drive and see what happens.

What up what up everyone. It's Melly again! I'm planning to bring in this original character, Matthew Brown, either this app cycle or the next app cycle. Whichever plans in RL fall through but! I would love to get connections with him built up now so we can plan things ahead of time and get ready. So here's the info on him:

RACE
Human through and through.

PERSONALITY
Matthew is a fairly average guy. He's kind of rough around the edges, blunt and dour at times, but he means well and is very nice most of the time! His devotion to his family and friends is almost legendary since they mean the world to him and he does his best to protect them to the best of his abilities. A bit of a goober at times, especially since becoming a dad because that seems to be a requirement, but he can be charming and affable to people.

BACKGROUND
He was a regular guy until he accidentally involved himself with a fairly powerful Seelie fae a year or so back before they broke up amiably. Now he finds himself being a single father to a wonderful little girl and he's trying to get the hang of raising a baby. Especially since she happens to be a powerful metababy who has interesting powers. Certain parties may or may not begin to eye her the wrong way thanks to said powers, making Matthew's need to learn about the community more important and necessary for both their sake.

When not worrying over his daughter's welfare and trying to get the bills paid on time, he's often found taking care of the family business, the pub Watering Hole, and visiting libraries and such to learn more about the fae, the supernatural, and the like. Oh my!

FIGURE OUT WHAT HIS CHILD IS OH GOD. I mean he loves her to bits but cHILD.

Now and then try to track down his ex-girlfriend, Lyra Lore, to get answers out of her. Mainly the 'why didn't you tell me?!' variety.

Have him learn about Redbright! He'll probably be going there ASAP the moment he learns about its connections to the other side, so to speak.

… Probably ask for more staff and employees to work in his pub because yes. :|a

POSSIBLE CONNECTIONS
Do any Seelie and/or Unseelie character want to know Lyra Lore, the mother of Margaret, in their history? She's a powerful figure among the Seelie faction due to being around for so long and is a known fixture in court thanks to her beauty and grace, hence her title Lady of Summer Songs. Though she disappeared for what they would consider a long period of time (three years or so) before coming back, not talking about her whereabouts or reasons besides a few select figures she trusts. They can begin to hear whispers of her child in the other world and the potential power she has too if they want.

Now back to Matthew: Regulars at the family pub would be nice! He's often the bartender since he's the only one left around who knows how to make the Brown's famous Irish Coffee. He's there for you if you need a shoulder to cry on, a ear to vent to, or someone who is willing to say, 'Yeah I think you had enough to drink.'

A-Any Redbright connections out there willing to run across him and help him out with 'how do i baby' angle of his? Or will anyone help for that matter? Anyone? Anyone? Bueller?

… Actually he also would totally like it if he could call someone up to be a babysitter of some kind for his daughter, Margret. That way he can go out more and do stuff. He promises to pay you in money and/or free drinks at his place in return. She's a sweet kid and is very quiet, very neat. No trouble on her end so this is an amazing offer to take up you guys come on.

I would be happy to work out knowing something about Lyra Lore, and I would also be interested in the metababy angle, as Heiji does have a few relatives that got together with humans (spoiler it didn't end well).

He's a bit clueless when it comes to taking care of babies in general, though his cousins probably looooove them.

Hey all, Frank here! AKA Eames' player. I'm not sure if I want to bring this character in this round or not (since I'm gonna be busy most of August, only having one on my plate may be for the best) but I'm def thinking about bringing in an OC of mine.

So this is Emir, he's a nerdy ass witch who moved to London for university and in the process discovered that the reason people get weird around him sometimes is because he's been unconsciously throwing spells around like a massive loser. He has a natural affinity for any kind of magic that affects emotions, but as said, he's a giant fucking nerd and so is super fascinated by getting his hands on any and all knowledge that he can. I'm pretty sure there's a lot of scope for spells going wrong or getting involved with people he shouldn't because of this.

I'm thinking he's more likely to be affiliated with Circle Midnight than Daybreak - not that he's super keen on practising the ~dark arts~, but rather because he feels like he should be allowed to decide for himself what kind of magic he wants to learn.

Ohhhh I really like Emir's specialisation! I'm wondering if there's any way for Emir to know either Clara or Matthew. Maybe he frequents either the coffee shop or the bar, respectively, and they get to know each other in the process?

New player alert! I'm Adri and I'm planning on apping Arthur here from Inception.

The AU I have planned for him is that he's a hunter, originally a secret ops vampire hunter with the US military, which is where he found out about supernatural creatures to begin with. After doing that a few years he met up with a witch and his human wife, who hired him as basically a personal bodyguard and live-in BFF (I imagined these two as Cobb and Mal for those of you that have seen Inception but I'm leaving it vague and nameless on the off chance someone wants to app them). He travelled all over with them, learning about supernatural stuff and then ended up in London, where they left him on his own for vague unknown reasons. He'd have been in London about a year if I get him in, so there's plenty of room for him to have made connections.

Even though he's a hunter, he's not very hostile to supernatural types unless they're hostile first! He's totally down for making deals and being friendly with all sorts, though he keeps his professional distance most of the time just in case. He's a bit of a tough nut to crack friendship wise, but a year is plenty of time to learn about someone over a few weekly drinks at the bar!

Let me know if you're interested in establishing or getting something going with him! I am amenable to all types of CR though obviously I'd like to plan if things are going to be complicated.

For now, I'm also a prospective player with my original character Maera here. She's an Unseelie fairy messenger, so she's been all over London, and spends a lot of time in the human realm in general. It's totally possible for her to have run into Arthur once or twice before, if not more often! She's also super friendly - the type to chat with pretty much anyone - so basically if Arthur's looking for a casual friend, she could be one!

I'm Hannah and I'm easily enabled and I'm thinking about bringing Isaac Mendez from Heroes in the next app round. In canon, he's a junkie painter/comic book artist who has the ability to paint the future, but generally only when he's high. He's kind of obsessed with being a hero, so he kind of struggles to tow the line between getting clean and getting high to see what's coming so it can stopped.

If I were to AU him, tbh, he'd...just basically be the same. Meta-human, retaining his drug problem and his artistic skills. Probably a London native. I usually find canon Isaac difficult to play in game environments because he's so busy dealing with his own issues that he doesn't willingly interact. I was wondering if anyone more familiar with the game had any ideas there/possible CR to open some doors?

Making him a roommate of someone older and patient might work? Presumably Isaac would get dragged into clan conflicts, people wanting to save him, people wanting to use him, etc.

HANNA TALBOT

This here is a pyromancer OC who comes from a craphole world that's basically Spartacus/The Hunger Games/Alphas everything is truly awful. Generally she's pretty upbeat but from this particular canon point she's a lot less about what's right and what's better for survival and thriving. She's big into music and plays the drums because once upon a time she was going to be a music producer but that all fell apart. By now, she's a mercenary and well-trained but still stands more as an advanced level instead of expert level.

AU her would follow a lot of the same thing in which she lived most of her life hiding her powers, was found to have powers then got kicked out of her home and was on the run for most of her life. She bounced around quite a bit in the US until she was recruited into an experimental army of metahumans. When that fell apart, she was recruited into Ouranos, a private military contractor that aimed to do the same thing, except make a lot of money out of offering contracts. She was trained up into plenty of special ops routines and took on many missions. Unfortunately, she made too many enemies as a mercenary and rumors were spreading of a girl who wielded fire. She left the company and went completely off the grid. Now she's a mercenary for the supernatural types in London, taking on hunting jobs from humans or other supernatural types who don't want to get their hands too dirty. She doesn't mind.

Hi guys! I'm Mira, considering apping in one of my OCs, Ada Lovelace.

Her base story is a bit of a complicated ride, but in the game AU I've been looking at making her a Lady of the Seelie Court. She's on the younger side for a fae, picked out and groomed by an older member of the Court to become her heir and taking up her place when she was developed enough to be trusted to do the right thing. Also, developed enough to be manipulated, but after a few decades Lovelace up and utterly rejected any more of that after a nasty incident that killed several of her friends and only takes on advice rather than orders. Viciously driven, and good at balancing relations as well as keeping things together, but on the sweeter side for a fae even if she does proclaim she doesn't like lying and then works in misleading fairy truths.

She keeps her original name under wraps and was gifted the one she uses by her "mother" when she got her position in Court, but views all Seelie as her people and has a fondness for them. Humans are more like toys than actual people, and she's superbly cautious when it comes to witches. Binding is on her list of things she'd rather not get entangled with.

Hi there! Potential new player here. My name's Jon, and I'm considering bringing in a few characters to the game.

One of the characters is Lady Zozo from Code of Princess, also known as Milk Macchiato. Zozo is a gloomy witch (though she prefers necromancer) who's skilled in the dark arts and is...pretty casual about the whole "raising the dead" thing. Probably because it's like the family business. In canon she lost her body and was forced to make one out of corpse parts and bind her soul to in. Should I app her to the game, I plan on having be in largely the same boat...though with some strong illusion magic to appear normal. Aside from that, she's not personable and lacks social skills, but she's loyal to those she cares about and never takes offense to anything.

Except being called a zombie. Don't do that.

The next character I'm considering is Metallia from The Witch and The Hundred Knight. Metallia's a young witch in training with incredible power and an incredible temper to go along with it. She's hot-headed and brash, but really kind of childish on the inside due to a lack of anything resembling a childhood. However her canon counterpart was much stronger and went through a lot more, so I'm interested in seeing how an AU version of her could differ, grow, and adapt.

Another character I'm considering is Valvatorez from Disgaea 4. In ancient times he was a fearsome tyrant, one of the strongest vampires known to man. Legends spoke of him like some sort of boogeyman. However, one day he met a human woman who wasn't afraid of him. She asked him not to drink anyone's blood but hers, but he refused because his pride wouldn't let him drink blood from anyone not afraid of him. So he made a promise that he would refrain from drinking blood until he scared her. Then he would drink her blood.

Except she kinda died. But keeping his word, Val refrained from drinking blood and thus lost his power and influence, instead feasting on the blood of other things. Mostly sardines. If I brought him in I'd probably keep that part of his backstory, but I'd also like to bring him in his tyrant form to play out the inevitable de-powering.

Those are the main ones right now, but I'm also looking at Shadow Labrys from Persona, Jeane from No More Heroes and Lambda from BlazBlue as a Meta-Human, Meta-Human, and Ghost respectively.

Hey! I'm thinking about apping Sylar (from Heroes) here as a meta human who gets his powers from killing other meta humans. C:

Right now, I'm looking at either a Pack or the Islington Nest for him, as someone who gets rid of metas that pose a threat (with the approval of the faction, basically). Ideally, as he doesn't play nicely with others, I'd probably want to get a partner or mentor assigned to him who can help keep him on track (because he'll probs kill outside permission occasionally - which may eventually result in his arrest or death).

Anyone have any interest in something like that? Or any other thoughts?

I could see Elsa and him having some negative CR because she is really pro-meta (since she is one) and wouldn't like a meta who kills other ones. She's trying to give them a good name, show they aren't monsters, etc etc.

So yeah, killing metas for no good reason, she'd probably find that rude.

Hi, I'm E. I'm considering bringing in Vlad (from Dracula Untold) either this but most likely next app cycle -- RL is being a bit of a bear at the moment -- as a vampire.

His AU backstory doesn't really differ much from his canon one; he disappears after the events of the film, takes to wondering and learning what he can about his new state. He bounced around Europe for awhile (including England, roughly around the time that the events of Stoker's novel would have taken place) before returning to Eastern Europe, where he fell in with one of the Hungarian nests -- which is where he's been for the better part of the last hundred years or so.

The exact circumstances surrounding his departure are something that I've yet to decide but he'll be coming to London with a rather interesting magical artifact - especially to the witches of a slightly more darker bent.

Otherwise, he's fairly personable despite being a vampire. Principled, even. He's naturally quite curious about the supernatural goings on in his new home.

Later than late, but whattup! This is Clocks and I was looking into throwing in this shitball, Hanzou "Lucifer" Urushihara, into the game.

Canonly he's literally Lucifer, but here he's just a dead college student with all the same reckless and bratty behavior a teenager addicted to the internet can have. Being a newbie ghost, he'd be pretty weak on a lot of the ghost magic front, but if it's electronic related then he's got you covered. You need someone to leak your enemy's chat logs? Take away admin rights on their laptops? Bug some phones? Be your one-ghost IT department that you can pay in just not kicking him the fuck out of your house? WE GOT IT RIGHT HERE FOR YA.

He's already up in the test-drive meme being a nuisance, but if the starter isn't your speed and you're still interested in CR, please drop me line!
