Welcome to the Underground test drive meme! This is where you can try out the AU version of your character, start some potential CR and get a feel for the world of the game. Choose your character's species, read up on the available factions and you're ready to go. Put your character's name in your subject line when you post, tag out, and have fun!

Note to current players: Activity in this meme counts as game canon! So you can use it for activity check. If you end up playing anything that you can't or don't want to use as game canon, it's fine to ignore it. (In that case you shouldn't submit it for activity check.)

Here are some prompts to inspire you:

1) BABY COME BACK. Is there someone you miss? Maybe you've come to visit for the first time in months. Maybe you'll even stay.

2) FULL MOON. (29th August) Uh oh, it's that time of the month. Werewolves, have you been feeling more aggressive lately? A little short of temper? Better start preparing for your monthly transformation and hope that you don't get interrupted. And then there's the morning after, which feels like a massive hangover. Wait, where are your clothes?

3) CARNIVAL. (30th-31st August) It's the August bank holiday weekend and that can only mean one thing: the Notting Hill Carnival! With the sun high in the sky, enjoy the parade, the music and of course the food. Jerk chicken, anyone?

4) SPECIAL EFFECTS. There's nothing like a touch of subtle magic to add to the occasion. Dress up and show off. Mind you, there could be other supernatural types around who see straight through your tricks.

5) PARTY ALL NIGHT. It's not over when the sun goes down. Get yourself to one of the bars or after-parties and keep on partying. Just don't drink too much. You know it makes it harder to control your powers... and your urges.

6) BRAWL. The police work hard to keep London's gangs away from Carnival. When you have supernatural gangs to contend with, their job gets a whole lot harder. Drunk and disorderly or simply looking for an excuse to cause trouble, encounters between rival factions can soon become hostile. Now are you here to cause a fight or to stop it?

7) NIGHT IN JAIL. Oops. What did you do? And who's that with you?

8) CHOOSE YOUR OWN ADVENTURE. Anything goes.

"Norrell," he offers with a slight nod, "You have perhaps, read of me...?"

Said with both confidence and hope of recognition, for there are few things Norrell values more than recognition and praise. Gilbert Norrell thinks highly of himself, but finds himself so lacking in like minded people who understand him. Vivienne may be a woman but, perhaps, as a woman and a witch both...! There may be some hope for her. Yes, of course she may never quite reach his level of understanding but that is to be expected.

Ah, Gilbert Norrell. An annoying man by all accounts, who claims himself to know what's best for the state of magic in England. She doesn't know that she's ever heard a positive anecdote about him, but for his many flaws, Norrell's intentions are noble and his skill is supposedly great. Vivienne wouldn't think him a powerful ally, but useful? Perhaps.

"Mister Norrell," There's recognition in her voice, and she even manages to fake some pleasure at meeting him, "what a surprise! It's a shame we're meeting for the first time in such... Unfortunate circumstances."

Her words bring him to realise the fact that Norrell himself is also here, and that such a thing might be mistaken -- and that the truth of it, even...! That his servant has been in a brawl!

"It is a sad business indeed, a very sad business. One I am sorry to see you wrapped up in. I was here on account of my servant, who thought to make a hero of himself, but I did not think to hear you involved in such things. It is not good for the reputation, you understand."

Norrell flashes her a wincing, pitying smile.

What an insufferable little man. Vivienne laughs, a sharp laugh at the idea that something like this could possibly do any damage to her standing. One doesn't reach her standing without knowing how to smooth over the odd unfortunate incident. Ones much more embarrassing than a few hours in holding.

"Your concern is appreciated my dear, but you needn't worry about my reputation." She glances toward the duty desk with a wrinkle of her nose, "the neanderthal who brought me here, however..."

He follows her gaze curiously, studying the man in question.

"You mean to do something about him?" he inquires, seemingly interested in this notion. Norrell considers it a moment, rallies after a second and drops his voice to something low and earnest -- almost conspiratorial. "I have often said," he divulges, "that the Night Council should have more say in these matters. It is all very well that we manage ourselves but when others, who do not understand the world as we do, think to stop us in our every day activities or -- arrest us." Like her, of course. He straightens, shakes his head slowly as if to show great distaste for these matters. "No, we need to revive the medieval laws on this. English magic can be respectable again and do a great deal of good, if only we handle this correctly."
