Test Drive Meme: August 2015
Welcome to the Underground test drive meme! This is where you can try out the AU version of your character, start some potential CR and get a feel for the world of the game. Choose your character's species, read up on the available factions and you're ready to go. Put your character's name in your subject line when you post, tag out, and have fun!
Note to current players: Activity in this meme counts as game canon! So you can use it for activity check. If you end up playing anything that you can't or don't want to use as game canon, it's fine to ignore it. (In that case you shouldn't submit it for activity check.)
For prospective players: Thinking about bringing a character to the game? Feel free to comment to our Potential CR Planning meme for OOC planning and discussion.
Here are some prompts to inspire you:
1) BABY COME BACK. Is there someone you miss? Maybe you've come to visit for the first time in months. Maybe you'll even stay.
2) FULL MOON. (29th August) Uh oh, it's that time of the month. Werewolves, have you been feeling more aggressive lately? A little short of temper? Better start preparing for your monthly transformation and hope that you don't get interrupted. And then there's the morning after, which feels like a massive hangover. Wait, where are your clothes?
3) CARNIVAL. (30th-31st August) It's the August bank holiday weekend and that can only mean one thing: the Notting Hill Carnival! With the sun high in the sky, enjoy the parade, the music and of course the food. Jerk chicken, anyone?
4) SPECIAL EFFECTS. There's nothing like a touch of subtle magic to add to the occasion. Dress up and show off. Mind you, there could be other supernatural types around who see straight through your tricks.
5) PARTY ALL NIGHT. It's not over when the sun goes down. Get yourself to one of the bars or after-parties and keep on partying. Just don't drink too much. You know it makes it harder to control your powers... and your urges.
6) BRAWL. The police work hard to keep London's gangs away from Carnival. When you have supernatural gangs to contend with, their job gets a whole lot harder. Drunk and disorderly or simply looking for an excuse to cause trouble, encounters between rival factions can soon become hostile. Now are you here to cause a fight or to stop it?
7) NIGHT IN JAIL. Oops. What did you do? And who's that with you?
8) CHOOSE YOUR OWN ADVENTURE. Anything goes.

"Well. I don't think you'll find a lot of that in here, sir," he points out, deliberately being a smart-ass this time.

"Science and art are more wed than anyone realizes."
no subject
"There are a great many things that nobody realizes," he says. "Though they are there. If one would only take the time to stop and look." He realizes a great many things himself in such a way. Like the fact that there is more to this 'professor' than meets the eye. There has to be some magic about him, although he can't quite put his finger on what. Not without being deliberate about it, and that's hardly something for such a place as this.

It's said amicably enough, Waver deciding that if his conversation partner is trying to play twenty questions to figure out other layers to him, well, have fun with it. Any further thoughts are interrupted though, thanks to the certain ding! that means Waver's gotten a new text. He frowns, and fishes his phone out.
The phone's case is a smooth and solid black, but attached to the earjack is a little phone charm in the shape of a Japanese cherry blossom, painted pink on the charm's silver. It'd be far more at home on a teenage girl's mobile, but it also boasts just a whiff of magic to it. Waver sighs, forgetting that the thing's charmed to give him a constant phone signal no matter where he is, and fires a text back.
"Charming, they're running thirty minutes late."

Childermass is no stranger to the feel of magic, and as such it is not only the look of the charm itself, but the spell put upon it that catches his attention. He watches the other man with the phone, casually assessing, not particularly caring whether he's being obvious about it or not, before speaking up after the other man's done texting.
"That's an interesting charm you've got there," he says, with a pointed look. He knows what it is, and while he's not certain of the magic exactly, he'd be curious to find out.

A neat explanation, all while dancing around the subject. Waver is about to elaborate when he gets a text back, and as he types another response, he continues. "The charm was just a gift from a friend who thought it'd be funny."
no subject
Childermass is perhaps impressed if anything by the levels of evasion that the other man is practicing. But it is doing him no favors, not in front of him at least. There is no point in hiding such things from a man who is the direct assistant of one of the most powerful witches in the city, no matter what his proclivities.
Childermass nods slightly, taking the opportunity to glance around and make certain that they will not be overheard, before continuing. "Perhaps the gift was from a friend. But I've a mind to believe that the magic upon it is yours, sir," he drawls, mildly.
no subject
"But then, I really only use things for practical matters."
no subject
"A practical scientist," Childermass hums idly. "Who'd have thought it."
no subject
Not that Waver expects his conversation partner to really see anything in him worth using.
