The moment she touched his hand, one brow raised, and his expression shifted into what was genuinely a smile. Not a large one, no, but it was present nonetheless. Ever so slightly, he bowed his head.
"Clever," he murmured, appreciation clear in his voice.
Calmly, he bowed, taking her free hand ever so gently. He didn't want to startle her or cause any kind of a scene. Like the gentleman he was, he pressed his cold lips to the back of it. His other hand came up to cup the hand he was still holding. When he released it, a small calling card had been placed against her palm.
"For now, yes." Tonight, he would rather play the hunter. But the offer wasn't ignored. "But keep my card. I'm sure we can come to some arrangement soon."
