HAPPY HALLOWEEN.

Welcome to the Underground test drive meme! This is where you can try out the AU version of your character, start some potential CR and get a feel for the world of the game. Choose your character's species, read up on the available factions and you're ready to go. Put your character's name in your subject line when you post, tag out, and have fun!

Note to current players: Activity in this meme counts as game canon! So you can use it for activity check. If you end up playing anything that you can't or don't want to use as game canon, it's fine to ignore it. (In that case you shouldn't submit it for activity check.)

Here are some prompts to inspire you:

1) GHOST TOWN. (31st October) Ghosts, it's your chance to shine! Whether you want to or not, actually. Even humans are more sensitive to ghostly activity tonight, so be careful where you choose to make your haunts.

2) BEHIND THE VEIL. (31st October) Even the faintest disturbance of magic could disrupt the veil between worlds tonight. Will you stumble into the Other Realm? Or will they find you? It's all blurring into one...

3) SAMHAIN. (31st October) Known to the public as Halloween and to witches as Samhain, tonight is the night when all manner of supernatural creatures come out to play and the humans will be none the wiser. Of course, if you're a witch, tonight is much more serious business. The veil between the worlds is thin, and magic can easily reach through the cracks.

4) FANCY DRESS. Or you could dress up and go to a Halloween party, where you can revel in what you are without suspicion. Just make sure you stain your costume with fake blood, not actual blood, mm'kay?

5) ARE YOU AFRAID OF THE DARK. There's something behind you...

6) HOUSE OF HORRORS. Okay, whose stupid idea was it to venture into a haunted house tonight? Really, you're every horror movie trope waiting to happen. Hope you brought a comfortable sleeping bag.

7) BONFIRE NIGHT. (5th November) Remember, remember, the 5th of November. Gunpowder, treason and plot. Bonfire Night is a long-standing tradition in the UK, commemorating that time back in 1605 when Guy Fawkes and his co-conspirators tried to blow up the Houses of Parliament. (They failed.) Tonight, light a bonfire, set off some fireworks and watch your guy burn. Lovely, isn't it?

8) CHOOSE YOUR OWN ADVENTURE. Anything goes.

The moment she touched his hand, one brow raised, and his expression shifted into what was genuinely a smile. Not a large one, no, but it was present nonetheless. Ever so slightly, he bowed his head.

"Clever," he murmured, appreciation clear in his voice.

Calmly, he bowed, taking her free hand ever so gently. He didn't want to startle her or cause any kind of a scene. Like the gentleman he was, he pressed his cold lips to the back of it. His other hand came up to cup the hand he was still holding. When he released it, a small calling card had been placed against her palm.

"For now, yes." Tonight, he would rather play the hunter. But the offer wasn't ignored. "But keep my card. I'm sure we can come to some arrangement soon."

Nancy can't help herself, his words bring out a small smirk. She was clever, true enough. But it never hurt to hear.

She let him kiss the back of her hand, only solidifying what she knew now. A vampire, indeed. One who understood exactly what she was offering. She glanced at the card, before sliding it into her purse. "I will, Lord Coward. It's not the only thing I offer, either." She was the whole package, considering how often sex and blood went hand-in-hand, it wasn't that surprising.

"I'm Nancy."

"And I think I can be a useful friend, if you'll allow me to be liberal with the term to an acquaintance, to you, Miss."

Not in terms of money, no. If she was half as clever with her business as with her approach, he could assume she'd need little help there. But there was always a bit of a threat of the law in some circumstances. That, especially, he would ease.

Of course, it would stir up a little scandal, but... Nowadays, that was almost a requirement of being in politics. It wasn't the death blow it once was.

"Considering?" Nancy started, taking another sip of wine before continuing. "I think friend is perfectly apt." She did just offer to open up a vein for him.

She was clever, and had quite a good deal of people she met with. Some regularly, some were one-offs. She didn't discriminate, necessarily, but she was careful. But she knew how helpful it was, to have friends in high places. Sure, Lance was helpful, but making friends with a man like Coward? All the more beneficial.

Coward offered another smile. It was easy enough, and it was fairly genuine. Maybe a little more showy than necessary, but they were at a party. One had to be social.

"Then I look forward to it. Tonight..."

She could be told. If she betrayed him, he could handle that himself. But she seemed the type to understand. Which was why he was willing to tilt his head just a bit and watch the hostess.

"I think I owe the lady of the house my compliments."

She wouldn't betray him. Him, or anyone. It was too risky- get a man of Coward's position, and considerable supernatural power, and, well. Enough said. It wasn't worth it, not by a long shot. She worried for the hostess, yes, but hopefully he wouldn't drink more than his fill. Hopefully, she was willing.

"I understand." She took another drink of her red wine. "I should hardly want to ruin your appetite."

Coward raised his glass as well and gave a small nod.

Overall, he had no intention of leaving his hostess much worse than he found her. She'd have to deal with a little dizziness, maybe be off her feet for a day or two. It was a simple song and dance.

"I hope you have a good evening, as well."

"And you, Lord Coward." She raises her glass to him again. This time, she doesn't drink before she adds: "If you need to contact me-" for whatever reasons, "-just ask at The Three Cripples'. They know me." And had no qualms about the supernatural there.

"In the meanwhile, enjoy the rest of your night."
