HAPPY HALLOWEEN.

Welcome to the Underground test drive meme! This is where you can try out the AU version of your character, start some potential CR and get a feel for the world of the game. Choose your character's species, read up on the available factions and you're ready to go. Put your character's name in your subject line when you post, tag out, and have fun!

Note to current players: Activity in this meme counts as game canon! So you can use it for activity check. If you end up playing anything that you can't or don't want to use as game canon, it's fine to ignore it. (In that case you shouldn't submit it for activity check.)

Here are some prompts to inspire you:

1) GHOST TOWN. (31st October) Ghosts, it's your chance to shine! Whether you want to or not, actually. Even humans are more sensitive to ghostly activity tonight, so be careful where you choose to make your haunts.

2) BEHIND THE VEIL. (31st October) Even the faintest disturbance of magic could disrupt the veil between worlds tonight. Will you stumble into the Other Realm? Or will they find you? It's all blurring into one...

3) SAMHAIN. (31st October) Known to the public as Halloween and to witches as Samhain, tonight is the night when all manner of supernatural creatures come out to play and the humans will be none the wiser. Of course, if you're a witch, tonight is much more serious business. The veil between the worlds is thin, and magic can easily reach through the cracks.

4) FANCY DRESS. Or you could dress up and go to a Halloween party, where you can revel in what you are without suspicion. Just make sure you stain your costume with fake blood, not actual blood, mm'kay?

5) ARE YOU AFRAID OF THE DARK. There's something behind you...

6) HOUSE OF HORRORS. Okay, whose stupid idea was it to venture into a haunted house tonight? Really, you're every horror movie trope waiting to happen. Hope you brought a comfortable sleeping bag.

7) BONFIRE NIGHT. (5th November) Remember, remember, the 5th of November. Gunpowder, treason and plot. Bonfire Night is a long-standing tradition in the UK, commemorating that time back in 1605 when Guy Fawkes and his co-conspirators tried to blow up the Houses of Parliament. (They failed.) Tonight, light a bonfire, set off some fireworks and watch your guy burn. Lovely, isn't it?

8) CHOOSE YOUR OWN ADVENTURE. Anything goes.

"Siobhan. I suppose 'sunshine' might have been too on the nose." Reynard laughed and shrugged his shoulders, then lowered his head in defeat. "I shall never look down on doughnuts again from now on. I shall keep eating them however." He ate another of the holes, right on cue, then turned back around to just walk next to her.

"I have no idea where we're going, by the way. I'm new enough in the city to not have anywhere to go."

"I rarely have anywhere in particular in mind when I go wandering. I kind of like getting lost."

Generally speaking, she had found that it was one of the best ways of finding where you were supposed to be.

It might not be where you'd intended to be, but those two things didn't always go together like one might think they should.

"Then we have something in common other than our appreciation for fine foods." Reynard's smile was an easy one and he truly was relaxed. Sure, he could feel her magic, but she was hardly any type of thread and he wasn't plotting anything at all just yet, so there was no reason not to simply enjoy a walk with a kind stranger.

"How long have you been in London, Siobhan?"

"I don't even know, should probably sit down and figure it out one of these days."

Keeping track of dates wasn't exactly a specialty of hers.

"Don't worry about it, I've no idea what the date is. Just say 'short' or 'long' and I'll have an idea based on that." Not as if he cared much about dates. The seasons, of course, even after all these years, the seasons still meant something. Considerably less since he wasn't in either court however and so usually he didn't care too much about that.

"What do you do to pass the time, sunshine?"

"Short. I suppose I've sort of gotten settled but not much more than that."

She picked up another donut and took a couple of bites while she considered his question.

"Most of the time I'm just sort of making ends meet. Feeding myself, keeping a roof over my head."

"That doesn't sound like a lot of fun." Also made him want to feed her more doughnuts, but no need for overkill. First she could finish what she had right now.

"Unless you do something fun for money, I suppose." She was a witch, wasn't she? Had to be, he couldn't be that mistaken. Whether she was practising was a different matter, but her magic felt too out there and alive for anything else.

"Oh, I have my share of fun. I get to meet a lot of interesting people, for example."

And it does bring her a lot of joy to work her craft when she can, especially when she can make magical items, that is her favourite thing of all.

She may not see eye to eye with her mother about a lot of things, but she will always be grateful that she saw Siobhan's potential in that area and let her learn early on about how to work with precious metals and stones.

"Am I interesting, now that I've proven how sorry I am?" Reynard finished off his last doughnut hole and balled the bag up in his hand, managing to throw it into a rubbish bin as they passed it. "I would like to at the very least qualify as 'odd', if at all possible. Perhaps mildly entertaining?"

There was always that moment of revealing knowledge of things not everyone up here would know about, but there was no rush.

"I think most people are pretty interesting."

Said with a bit of a teasing tone, as if she was both saying that he was interesting and that he shouldn't be getting too big an ego about it.

"Certainly. At the very least if you're interesting enough yourself to draw it out in them."

There was too much of Reynard's ego to be deflated all that easily and it definitely took more to hurt it. "But I'll take the challenge. You'll just have to tell me at what point I've become more than merely interesting. I'll settle for fascinating."

Alright, that made her laugh, which wasn't a hard thing to accomplish really but nice all the same.

"Sounds like I'm in for a very entertaining walk."

"Has anyone ever told you that your laugh would make the sun rise? In a metaphorical sense at least, technically it would have to make the Earth move for a similar effect and that just seems inconvenient." Reynard grabbed her arm lightly, just enough so he could steer her to actually turn at the next corner. He had no idea where they were going, but might as well appear as if he did.

Well, her face certainly turned one of the colours of sunrise at that comment.

"No, can't say that has happened before."

"Then other people are clearly either blind or shy. Probably a bit of both. Usually is." Of course he saw her blush, deciding that it made her look even more lovely, but not commenting on that. He had to walk the line between being himself and coming on too strongly. "Siobhan. How do you like this city so far?"

"I like it well enough. Bit lonely sometimes maybe, but that'll change soon enough."

She just needed to be there long enough to make friends, that was all.
