Potential CR Planning

Thinking of joining the Underground? Come tell us all about it. This post is for prospective players to discuss their characters' AU backgrounds with canonmates and other characters, and to establish pre-existing CR (character relations). The aim is to help you figure out what to write in the background section of your application and to give you a starting point for building CR when you join the game.

You can use this post to:

• Share your ideas on how you'd like to adapt your character's background to the game.
• Ask questions and request feedback on your AU plans.
• Discuss potential shared history with canonmates and build in cross-canon CR.

Please note that nothing discussed here is guaranteed, since not all prospective players will submit an app or be accepted into the game, while others will app without having commented to this post. After the next round of applications have been processed, there will be a follow-up CR planning post for accepted players to confirm initial plans, make changes, and look for new CR.

This post is intended to be an open discussion between current and prospective players, but I'm happy to answer any mod questions you might have too. Oh, and feel free to jump into our latest test drive meme!

Hi! I'm considering bringing in Ariadne here, and was wondering - are there positions at Redbright for temporary lecturers? As in, she'd teach an elective for one or two semesters, and then be able to leave the school if she wanted or apply for a permanent position?

Yes, certainly! It would be slightly different from the way you described: Redbright is a school, not a university, but they do run short courses for adults (think further education or evening classes). Semesters are called terms and "electives" as a word is unlikely to be used.

Prospective apper here. Could you please clarify how magic would work for vampires? Both in general and in terms of abilities.

Like if I decided to get my character's magic up to three, which I think is the start of mid-strength, would I then be able to have him have control over an element like mist, which I believe is considered a midlevel power.

For vampires, their magical ability is largely a measure of how good they are at mind control. The list of vampire abilities does not include controlling elements, but does include control over people and animals. The powers page outlines how vampire abilities can be developed.
