Potential CR Planning

Hello! This post is for all prospective players to discuss their characters' AU backgrounds with canonmates and other characters, and to establish pre-existing CR (character relations). The aim is to help you figure out what to write in the background section of your application and to give you a starting point for building CR when you join the game.

You can use this post to:

• Share your ideas on how you'd like to adapt your character's background to the game.
• Ask questions and request feedback on your AU plans.
• Discuss potential shared history with canonmates and build in cross-canon CR.

Please note that nothing discussed here is guaranteed, since not all prospective players will submit an app or be accepted into the game, while others will app without having commented to this post. After the first application round, there will be a follow-up CR planning post for accepted players to confirm initial plans, make changes, and look for new CR.

This post is intended to be an open discussion between prospective players, but I'm happy to answer any mod questions you might have too. Happy planning!

John Cooper | Agent of Hel series

Race: Vampire
Age: 234
Personality: Friendly neighborhood vampire. Cooper's a pretty easygoing sort, lacking the arrogance that makes up some vampires. He tends to get people to like and trust him very quickly. He's never wanted to be a leader, but he makes a very good subordinate. However, he's also got a bitter, nihilistic streak under the surface that stems from being turned at age seventeen and never getting to grow up or grow old.

Background: Cooper got hanged over two-hundred years ago in the Irish Rebellion of 1798. His sire didn't stick around so he spent the next couple hundred years wandering about the earth and biting anyone in sight. Lately, he's mellowed out some and decided to make London his home. While he's not quite the bloodthirsty monster he once was, he still feeds off humans because, hey, he's not going to turn down all the free little dinners running around. He's a member of the Islington Nest, I'm thinking level 2 or 3 depending on how long I've decided he's been there for.

Looking for: Friends. Cooper gets along with just about everyone and can definitely turn on the charm when he wants someone to like him.
Islington nestmates. They could be friends, allies, enemies, subordinates, whatever you like.
Victims. Need a character that was the victim of a vampire attack? Throw 'em over here.
Enemies. He's bound to have pissed off a few people. And I adore negative CR.
Anything else you can think of!

And props for the 1798 rebellion. It's absolutely the most overlooked matter ever, and I'm a major fan of the era.

Sirius Black, Roxas, Agent North Dakota

3 Characters for the price of one, or I have a hard time deciding. But yeah, looking at one of a few potential characters for this game so I threw them all up on the test drive and we'll see what happens. Everything I've come up with is really rough and subject to change/flexible so we'll see what happens:



1) Sirius Black
Background: Right now, I'm sort of basing things off of canon and running with what sounds good. Born to an old, aristocratic family, Sirius was raised with questionable beliefs until going to school and making friends with those who would change those beliefs, causing him to run away from home at the age of 16 and have his family disown him. Eventually, he would be betrayed by one of those friends and sent to prison for a crime he didn't commit. In the test drive post, he's recently escaped and out for revenge (and also maybe looking for his godson?)
He's a shapeshifter since that connects nicely with the fact that he's an animagus in canon, and so I'm looking at maybe working something with the Hillingdon Clan in. I need to give it some more thought.

Personality: He's loyal to his friends but a terror to his enemies. He has strong beliefs which he tends to wear on his sleeve, and hates being reminded of his family. Sirius is a risk taker and likes to be where the action is, sometimes charging in without thinking. He's a bit arrogant and has a short temper, but his heart is mostly in the right place.

CR plans:
Friends would be good, people who can help him rebuild his life a bit after prison, and stabilize him a bit.

2)Roxas
background: Still deciding on his parentage, but enough to give him newly manifesting powers. While this will be probably be pared down to one, he currently has control over fire, electricity, and ice, but minimally over all three (they were chosen since they mimic the magic available in Kingdom Hearts). He's always thought he was a regular human, so these powers are scaring him and he's not sure what to do about it.

personality:One thing to note about Roxas is that friendship is a really big thing for him. What friends he has are pretty much his family, and he'll be extremely loyal to them. Otherwise, he's quiet and thoughtful, active and fun to be around. He does have a short temper though.

CR plans: People who can help him with his powers, for good or ill, friends are always good as well. I'd like for him to play with his powers and figure out how he'd want to use them.

3. Agent North Dakota

Backgroud: Since RvB hasn't given us a canon name for North, I use my headcanon name of Nathan Reilly. What I have for him so far is that he was murdered trying to protect his twin Sister, which mimics his death in canon. Although the circumstances are a tad dubious as exactly how that murder went down remains unknown (did his sister have something to do with it? did they know the murderer?).

personality: North is the older brother you didn't known you wanted but ended up with anyway. He's a bit of a mother hen, and likes looking after people, but can also be overbearing about it. Overall, he's a good guy though, helpful, and good in a fight.

CR Plans: I like the idea of him having to figure out his death, so friends are big here. Also castmates would be lovely.


Everything here is flexible, naturally, so I'm more than happy to work things out/change things.

Also, if you tag me on the test drive, I'm probably going to be a little slow (and I'll be out of town this coming weekend with variable internet) but I will tag back. I'd love to get at least one of these guys in the game.

Okay, lets start off with the fact that I definitely squealed when I saw Dakota cause yesssssssssss RvB..........!!!

But um. Cr. In terms of Sirius, these two could maybe have some history? Jack has been involved in the Hillingdon clan a long while (bout 20 years at this point) and assuming you go that route, they could have something to go off of. Jack was originally involved with looking for his missing daughter and wife.

Abigail's family is definitely old money and part of the supernatural community, so she and Sirius might either be loosely related or at least having once moved in similar circles. She's quite a bit younger, but old money is old money.

So I'm slowly working on Sirius' background, adapting what I can from Harry Potter canon, since I think there's enough to work with there that it can fit into the game decently well. Sticking with him as a shapeshifter since I've grown rather fond of the idea.

I think the main thing I'm having trouble with is AUing the events of the First Wizard War and the events that lead to Sirius going to prison (ie: Peter's betrayal), so I wouldn't mind suggestions. (It's a bit hard since I don't want to overly shoehorn potential castmates).

Nancy, Oliver Twist, Witch

Background Grew up under the watchful eye of a fae named Fagin (ha hah) who worked fencing magical goods and using minions to do his dirty work. She became his ward after his mother thought she could get the upper hand in a deal with him. NOPE. So she lived and worked with/for him for a while. He didn't really let her use her powers because that could be bad for him. But now that she's eighteen, she's on her own, and finally learning magic. She's a sex-worker and bartends. She's part of Circle Midnight.

Personality Sweet, sassy, and maternal. Nancy will not back down from a fight, will call it like she sees it, but she's also a die-hard romantic. She's extremely loyal, and quite smart. She's also a bit of an alcoholic. The phrase she's most often associated with is "hooker with a heart of gold". Her magic isn't too great, but she has potential.

CR Plans EVENTUALLY I want her to change her alliance. I'd love for her to find herself in a bad relationship with a vampire. Other than that, friends and trouble. I won't hold my breath for castmates, but I would kill a man for some. I'm super flexible for ANYTHING but really excited to get this ball rolling.

Joel Miller / The Last of Us / Werewolf

Age: 49
Species: Werewolf
Background: Kay, still pretty fuzzy on this, but basically, working class guy born with the wolf birthmark, had a kid at a young age, raised her primarily by himself, until I'm thinking a (probably young) vampire drained his daughter dry when he was in his late twenties, which was the first time he killed anyone, leading to his transformation. Out of necessity, he's joined the East End pack, but often works on his own or with one or two others. Since his daughter's death, he has continued working as a carpenter, but dabbles in black market trade.

Personality: Joel is the grim, serious type who doesn't mince his words. He's prepared for the worst so that when it happens, he doesn't get hurt. It's hard for him to make serious attachments, but stick around long enough and it will happen. Because of this, he tends to be a loner and doesn't rely on others as he should. Stubborn as he is, he doesn't give up easily.

Wanted Cr
Any and all werewolves! Let's be kinda sorta maybe friends!
A couple people with whom he can rely on. So like. Friend sorts. But they probably trust him more than he trusts them.
Are there any girls who need a father figure? He's really badgood at that......
Some serious enemy vamps. People he just does not get along with, and probably tries to attack whoops

Hello, Joel.

Here is a 19-year-old girl who kind of has the universe against her based on a very old curse she doesn't know about and her forefathers using Fae, summonings, and contracts to keep them alive. She has about two years to contract a Fae before the curse catches up with her, as far as she's concerned.

She's also an orphan and prime for some adopting. She's also a witch, so she'll need black market surprise and can trade charms and spells for it!

Gabe Goodman | Next To Normal

This awful child's canon background can be found in his journal, but the short version is he died as a baby and is a manifestation of his family's fears and dysfunctions. I've always played him as a poltergeist, of sorts, who feeds off of their negative energy and, at his core, is just a needy toddler who wants attention from his parents and sister.

AU-wise, I assume his canon still stands for the most part and came to London with his family, who were visiting because his music major sister may have had some big concert to take part in. Upon entering the weird hub of magic, I think he got stuck and, thus, separated from them.

Now, in regards to species, I have two ideas:

1) Ghost, which is mostly canon. He's been able to manifest to his mother, at least, for most of his existence, but I wouldn't call him an "experienced" ghost, since he's spent most of his afterlife trying to ignore the fact that he's dead. He's emotionally volatile and will sap energy without a second thought because he hasn't really gotten what he feels is enough of it since his parents' separation. He'll be really annoying, clingy, and possibly hurtful without really meaning to be.

2. Meta-human, revived by a witch or fae who was (justifiably) tired of being bothered by him. I assume he will keep some of his ghost-y powers like the energy-sapping and ability to create/instigate strong negative emotions. Very possible too that he can create something of a weak electric shock, too, as a leftover from the time his mother's psychiatrist tried to use ECT to make her stop hallucinating him. More interestingly, he will be a very ill-adjusted human teenager, since most of his practical knowledge was for all intents and purposes "hand-waved" into him by his mom. He's going to need a lot of help from very patient friends who don't mind that he's almost as useless as a literal baby.

In the case of the latter option, I assume he'll be aligned with whichever faction the witch or fae who turned him human is with, kind of stuck to him/her because of the "favor", but in either case, I don't know that he'll stay loyal to any one order, unless he legitimately attaches to someone (or several someones) somewhere.

ANYWAY, these are just thoughts. Hit me up if you think you might need a shitty little (possibly ex) ghost baby in your Underground life!

IF Nancy was a strong enough witch to have revived him, I'd be all for option number 2, but because she was hidden from her own powers (THANKSFAGINURAJERK) that's not a thing that's happening. BUT CR is required, obviously. She'd be patient enough to help him learn how to human, and could potentially be a mother-figure for him.

Or he could harass the hell out of her for fun and spin our usual CR on it's head because gdi gabe stop breaking things you petulant child. BUT idk. I kinda want positive CR for once in our lives? Ish?

• Yuuko was born into a rich family in Japan but she and her family moved to Ealing in the 60s due to her father's chemical business.
  
• Her family is said to have guarded a shrine of a god back in Japan for generations, but the truth is they are actually a line of witches who use their magic and make deals with fae to answer people's prayers!
  
• She attends Redbright Institution.
  
• Several cases of unexplained deaths crop up in the borough after her father's plant begins operations. Among them is Yuuko's mother.
  
• A relative (cousin? sibling?) thinks the deaths are a curse because their family neglected paying tribute to the fae but Yuuko is like "I KNOW I'M A WITCH, BUT NO, THERE'S A SCIENTIFIC EXPLANATION FOR THIS OK"
  
• Said relative creates a shrine somewhere in Redbright Institution and sacrifices Yuuko there in order to appease it. It doesn't work, though. The deaths are later assumed to be chemical poisoning from the plant her father works at.
  
• Feeling betrayed, Yuuko, as a ghost, attempts to kill said relative out of hatred but can't bring herself to.
  
• She grows tired of her grudge, so she chooses to forget about it. Even so, her grudge remains unfulfilled!
  
• She wanders Redbright Institution as a ghost to this day, alive as a popular ghost story among students.
  
• The more frightening rumors about her are a result of her being reminded of her past, which she can't accept.
  

This is subject to change! I might end up having her haunt a normal school instead.

personality Yuuko appears sinister and unapproachable because of her looks and how she appears to carry herself with grace, but she's actually a charming, playful if not mischievous girl. Yes, she will play pranks on fellow students and teachers. But there's only so much she can do on her own, so most of the time, she keeps to herself. She's somewhat active, has no boundaries when it comes to personal space and often does things on a whim. Despite seeming carefree and a bit of a klutz, she is observant when it comes to other people's behavior and can be surprisingly cold with her judgement. She's used to being on the outside, looking in.

Since Yuuko wasn't able to manifest for a very long time, she's a very lonely soul. If she finds out that someone can see her, she cheers up in an instant. If you're her friend, she'll smother you with hugs and affection and might even flirt. Once you have her, she'll stick to you no matter what! Maybe too much... She might get jealous if you spend too much time with your living friends, though. She'll definitely be afraid of letting her anchors go.

She won't really care about supernatural politics unless her friends are involved in it.

looking for
- a relative who sacrificed her! Yuuko must have been very close to them for her not to kill them. She hasn't seen them since then.
- a fae/s her family used to call on? They only summoned faes for more impossible feats.
- people who can see/talk to her! I'd like most CR to happen in-game since she's, but it's very possible that they've seen her around but couldn't approach her out of fear, etc. People who would tell ghost stories about her would be cool! (from "i saw books floating in the library the other day" to "i saw her once then and i was like wow she's so pretty" to "SHE IS EVIL INCARNATE SHE WILL SUCK YOUR SOUL DO NOT APPROACH")
- anchor/s. In canon, she falls in love with someone so... yeah. I'd love friends too, since she's a lonely little thing!

Kenzi | Lost Girl | idk???

This is Kenzi. I have a go-to app for her and some stats if you wanna know more about her in her base canon.

SO, I have a few ideas for Kenzi but they all have the same basic theme of her either being IN the black market or being THE black market. I shall explain:

No. ¹ Kenzi is a newish witch in a coven, secretly (or not so secretly) making and selling spells and magical objects to people under the table.

No. ² Kenzi is NOT a witch and is terribly human - has a friend on the inside of a coven who makes stuff for her which she then turns around and sells for profit to folks who are either not in good with witches or who can't be seen publicly dealing with them.

I'm attracted to both of these options for their own reasons but if someone has ideas for tying kenzi's story into theirs or vice versa i'd be tempted to go with that specific option.

From there, there are a whole lot of things to consider, but i think we can start doing that sort of thing once the game actually gets started l-lol. BUT FOR NOW I WOULD LIKE TO REQUEST

coven mates? i don't know who I want kenzi to be with rn but that'll get figured out as this thread goes. EDIT: Going with the obvious but nonetheless enjoyable option of Circle Midnight! Dark magic woo woo!

a bodyguard? since kenzi is an ambitious little fucker i intend on her trying to climb the underground rank...like, the black market underground. she'll probably have police and high ranking coven officials on her ass so she'll need some protection / hitman... thing. WHICH BRINGS ME TO MY NEXT ONE:

people hunting her ass down? police, p.i's, coven leaders, fae leaders, whatever! I like all of these things but i mainly want someone to be breathing down her neck and coming in close behind her. I want Javert basically. :|

CONSIDERING Nancy's in close with a fencer of fae goods, this just gets even better in terms of biffles. I figure they kinda even each other out a little. Encourage each other in the best and worst ways, but are also there to pull the other one back and be like, "WATER U DOIN"

Ella of Frell | Ella Enchanted | cursed meta-human

So I'm considering a few different characters. Ella's for sure, because this is the first place in absolute ages that I've thought I could even play her at.

Cursed by a fae the day she was born to be obedient, Ella is also a meta-human due to her great-something-grandmother being fae. Haven't hammered out a particular power, suggestions welcome. She'd possibly be a student at the Redbright Institute (whether secondary or post-secondary level, still thinking). Either way, her main focus is breaking her curse, hence Redbright as they'd probably have the most resources.

Other possible characters:
- A kindhearted stitch-witch who will make friends with whomever she wishes damnit. Affiliated with Circle Daybreak, possible alumnus of Redbright (or current student, can go either way). If you are her friend, she will make you the most amazing clothes with all sorts of nifty spells laid into the cloth.

- A meta-human with a resilience against magic. She hates fae, witches, vampires, and werewolves. Preferring to stay as far away from the Night Council as possible, she joined the Hillingdon Clan not long after discovering her ability. After all, some people don't like it when someone whom magic barely works on at all shows up. She can either be very revolutionary minded or a bit more restrained. Depends what canon-point I pick to base her off.

- A meta-human with a mild-precog ability and a stronger stasis one. He's the youngest of a trio of brothers who are all meta-humans. After generations of normalcy, a little fae blood in their family suddenly resurfaced rather strongly. By day, he's a boring, stuffy computer game programmer, by night... a boring, stuffy computer game programmer. Could possibly be convinced to be a Guardian for the Night Council or, more likely, a teacher at Redbright.

Balem Abrasax | Jupiter Ascending

Race: Fae (Unseelie)
Age: REALLY GODDAMN OLD (somewhere in the tens of thousands)
Personality: Weird whispering fae obsessed with space and crying about his dead mother. Very shrewd and business-like, outright thinks some lives are worth more than others. Arrogant as hell, and also a total decadent who loves all things fancy and refined. Would probably be willing to trade your life for a nice cloak (unless you're a fellow fae). His powers are mostly based in the stars and their alignments, so he can be a bit moody for seemingly no reason.

Background: Balem has seen plenty of civilizations rise and fall, and tends to regard humans as fleeting and expendable (although there are some he has great respect for anyways - he was impressed and influenced by Ancient Egypt and Ancient Greece especially). Born to Seraphi Abrasax, a very old and influential fae, he and his siblings were always a bit spoiled and it shows. Extreme mommy issues, it's probably best not to bring her up.

Looking for:
-Fellow fae friends! If you're Unseelie he'll be friendly by default, if you're Seelie it might be more like a friendly rivalry but he'll still be polite. If you're an outcast...well, then he might not be so nice, he takes fae rules and customs very seriously.
-Friends of other species - he's more hesitant there but will be fine with you if you're dignified enough, especially if you're rich.
-Anyone else with an interest in the stars/space/planets and how they affect things. Possible mentorship, if he likes you enough.
-Anyone who has had a wish granted by him (for a price).
-Enemies of any sort.
-Anything!

So, Balem. Has probably heard about the Widdowsons at least peripherally. Because they tend to contact Fae to continue their line and have been doing it for a long time in the human world but a short amount of time in the Fae world. (Tudor era is when it started.)

So them meeting might be kind of interesting!

Natasha Romanoff| MCU|MCeta

So, I keep tossing different ideas around about an AU version of Natasha, but it is more difficult than it seems. She is such a kiss ass character I just want to do her justice.

I thought about using her red room training to a certain degree, but instead of training her to become a killer, it allowed her to be able to communicate with shape shifters. She could still have the kick ass fighting skills. I imagine she had to have them to get the shifters to believe her.


She is still witty, with a dry sense of humor, but she is less cold than killer Natasha would be.

Thoughts?

I'm still nailing down the super details, but I have a basic idea for what I'm doing with Aradia, and I'd love input. :D The best ideas aren't made in a vacuum and all that.

AGE: 16ish - bit older then she was in canon, but trolls seem to mature earlier then humans, so the bump up is necessary. She's also been 16 for the past few years; three or four, at least.
RACE: Human (ppppossibly metahuman? depends on a mod answer) -> ghost.

PERSONALITY: Layers. Aradia is layers. When she was alive she was a sweet, girl-next-door sort of teenager - constant smiles, a wickedly morbid sense of humour, and near-obnoxious levels of cheer. Then she died under Suspicious Circumstances, and her bubbly personality's taken a sharp backseat to a volatile mix of apathy and a grudge. It's still there though, it just needs to be developed on a bit icly.

AU HISTORY: Here's where things get vaguer, as her canon backstory depends a lot on canonmates that aren't here. So far what I've narrowed down is she lead a pretty vanilla life, maybe with some Burgoning Metapowers thrown in depending on a mod answer (+with the natural excitement of "oh my gosh I can start going on adventures!!!" thrown in if so) up until a Something happens, which causes her untimely and violent death. She's been haunting the apartment building she lived in ever since, with particular care paid to whoever got her room number afterwards.

And since she's an alien in canon, I sort of need to address that too - I headcanon her as biracial due to Damara's influence (dark hair, dark eyes, pale-ish skin), but I also see her growing up in London with her single mom and maybe sister/cousin/what have you if we get a Damara all her life. Mama probably moved away out of grief when Aradia kicked it.

I'm still trying to narrow down what factions she has ties to - it might be Redbright from when she was alive, but... she could also have a really nice dynamic with the Un/Seelie Courts. gahhhh.

CR IDEAS: pretty much anything, honestly. People who knew her before she died, people she's bugged after she died, other ghosts, what have you - even family, if ya'll want. c: But, there are two bits of CR I'd love in particular! The first being maybe someone moving into her tiny old apartment and having to deal with a temperamental ghostly 'roommate'.

The other, and perhaps more importantly, is I'd love if someone was responsible for Aradia's death. The events leading up to her death were such a spectacular tragedy in canon, and it being on purpose would spark such a hilarious grudge in her that I'd love to play that out with someone, if that's anyone's jam? She's a nosy, well-meaning brat who used to make some really rash revenge decisions. I'm sure there'd be some cause.

eta: Also - anchors! Aradia likes people when you get past the cushiony ghost exterior. She's a great enabler. doooo iiiit. also any hypothetical canonmates except maybe gamzee or equius, and I would sell you my soul forever

Henry Morgan - Forever

Race: Meta-human (Human on the father's side and Witch/Fae on the mother's)
Age: 235 -- appears 35
Personality: Henry can be incredibly smug, but he has a good heart. Because of his immortality, he has seen and experienced a lot, but he still chases after new things. He is extremely selective in who and what he gives his time to personally, but medically and as a teacher, he makes himself extremely open as a physician and mentor. He tends to be sarcastic, but those who get close might hear the playfulness in it. He teases those he cares about, and he can become very protective.
Background: Henry is an immortal who is the son of a human and a witch with Fae blood in her. He found out he was immortal at 35, when a ship captain tried to kill him. Since then, he's bounced around the world, trying to hide what he is. He's served in most major wars since 1815, usually on England's side. He is also a doctor and moonlights as a medium for those who learn about those abilities of him.
Looking for:

Abigail Widdowson - Crooked House

Personality: Abigail is an outgoing, sweet girl who is from very old money. She participates in charities frequently, though her family is considered to be social outsiders. Still, there is no door that is ever closed in the face of a Widdowson, especially the one who has inherited the entire estate before her twentieth birthday. She is book-learned, but she lacks world knowledge, having previously been tutored by her 'uncle' and kept away from the heart of the city and carefully under lock and key of her estate. So, now, out in the world, she's eager to try everything.
Background: All of Abigail's life, she's been sheltered by a very old, very powerful Fae who dwells in the human world because of a deal that went against his interests. He became involved in a contract to continue the Widdowson line in the Tudor era, when Widdowson's wife failed to produce an heir. The fae -- who called himself Unthank -- manipulated the fabric of time itself to bring him a male child to continue his legacy. Ever since that, the Widdowson line has made a deal with a fae every year, directed by Unthank, to preserve themselves and their children.
Abigail has been an orphan for seven years, under the protection of Unthank. However, once she turned eighteen, she became a sort of 'free agent.' She had until the age of twenty-one to make a contract for herself or she risked falling victim to the Widdowson curse, what had supposedly killed all of the previous members of her family. Either they failed to make a contract or rescinded on their bargain with the Fae, and they paid for it with their lives.
Because of her family's past, Abigail has been integrated into a sect of the Midnight Circle, trained to use her powers by Unthank, specifically the spells to summon a fae who could protect her once the contract was made.
